PAD Part 47

Warning: this post contains pictures of some dead animals (AKA dinner)

Nelson rocking out to some Eminem

Christmas carolers at the nakamal

Futsol tournament at Loone

Getting ready to roast some chicken wings! Gibi built the grill himself.

Last day at the office before Christmas, enjoying some kava before heading home with my coworkers

Feeding pigs and chickens

...and killing one for Christmas dinner

Timmy's mom working on a mat that will be given to the family getting married the next day. She spent a long time cutting bamboo pieces to create the pattern, ties it on with leaves, and will next put it in the fire with dye to create a deep purple color in the mat, but leaving the pattern white. Very cool process!

Working on cutting up the bull (whose head you see left, sorry...) for food a wedding

One of the traditions of Ambae weddings are to carry bumbus (grandparents) to the stack of mats, and proceed to cover them in baby powder, cloth, and mats. This is the aftermath of one such kidnapping.

Lily and her cousin all tuckered out...too many weddings this season!

Lunch with the coworkers to help plan David Tari's wedding next week

Frangipane flowers

My cousin Dioline always wants me to take pictures of her whenever she comes over...in this one, she insisted on wearing my backpack too.
