My name is Grace Whitmore, and I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Vanuatu, a small archipelago in the South Pacific. Peace Corps has always been a dream of mine, and I'm so excited that I get to live it out! I'm based in the PENAMA Provincial Headquarters, where I work as the Provincial IT Officer. I provide trainings, workshops, and knowledge to the various government offices (Education, Police, Public Works, Hospital, etc.) located here, in an attempt to build capacity and reduce the need for sending computers and people to and from the capital, on another island.
I was born and raised in Eugene, OR, and graduated in June 2014 with a Computer Science degree and French and Spanish minors from Carleton College. I've done a lot of volunteering in my life, but the most life-changing, and the one that really inspired me to apply to Peace Corps was an incredible organization called Sierra Service Project, where I worked all four summers while in college. Volunteering and traveling have always been a big part of my life, and I'm loving the combination of the two in Vanuatu!
Hi Grace. Great blog! My name is Michelle, and my husband and I were among the PC Blog It Home contest winners a couple years ago. I’d like to invite you to an online project I’m working on called Blogging Abroad, with the aim of helping bloggers to promote cross-cultural understanding. First, if you haven’t already submitted your blog to be featured on the site, you can do that here: http://bloggingabroad.org/blogs-around-the-world. I’d be honored if you would also check out the tools and resources I’ve been creating for bloggers like you (there's a monthly photo challenge and 10-week blog challenge). Those can be found here: http://bloggingabroad.org/tools.
ReplyDeleteTake care and happy blogging!
