PAD Part 25

The entire network for Saratamata was down, so I headed up to Public Works to check out what was up. They were running a training on how to use some new machines to improve the roads, and I definitely almost asked to try driving one.

The switch in Public Works, AKA, my favorite place ever, because it is in the only room on Ambae with air conditioning

Ice cream!

Banyan trees are pretty cool, and pretty fun to climb!

Okay, Hilson, you have fun eating your cookie sandwich...

Welcome to West Ambae, Kris and Emily!

Devil's rock

A beautiful view overlooking Nduindui. Supposedly if it had been clear, we would have been able to see Santo, Malekula, and Pentecost

Some Australian women that came to Nduindui Hospital to help with the water situation

Purse dog!

After Parliament was dissolved following the bribery scandal, Ambae selected three new MPs, one of whom is Jay Mwele (pictured standing behind the table). As an employee of PENAMA Province, the Area Administrator asked me to come to a brief welcome of the MP to the Area Council Office in Ambore, West Ambae.

Happy birthday, Alison!

The butcher's shop (that's been closed for way too long)

Apologies for this photo, but gotta show the good with the bad, eh? People are not the best with dogs here, and someone cut this one a bush knife. Thomas wrote a good post reflecting about this topic that I highly recommend you read here.

I was on West for Walter H. Lini day (Feb 21), but figured a week later wouldn't be bad. This is right out front of my office. Walter Lini was the founding Prime Minister of Vanuatu, and died on Feb 21, 1999.
